An American classic, Scooby-Doo has been around since the late 1960s. The Mystery Inc team is composed of five team members, Scooby, Shaggy, Velma, Daphne and Fred who work together to solve mysteries. Their adventures always lead to scary encounters with villains posing as monsters or ghosts in-order to cover up their nefarious acts. Using their combined set of skill-sets the Mystery Team always finds a way to get the job done. In our first-ever video we have gathered some of the classic toys from Imaginext and some newly released ones from Playmobil and the new Scoob! Movie.

The Scoob! movie also brings in some other characters from the Hanna-Barbera universe such as the villainous duo Dick Dastardly and Muttley, the superhero crime fighting team of Blue Falcon and Dynomutt and Captain Caveman. The combination of all these characters creates a super ensemble to introduce the world to some of the lesser known characters. Let’s explore everything we have gathered, see what they can do and how you and your family can enjoy them.

Newly Released Playmobil Scooby-Doo Toys

Playmobil toys feature put-together assembly sets that are similar to Lego versions and they have released a number of new Scooby-Doo toys this year. These toys focus on the classic Scooby-Doo series. So far this year Playmobil has only released about half of their new sets, with the rest scheduled for later this year.

The Mystery Machine by Playmobil
Playmobil Mystery Machine

The first toy we explored was The Mystery Machine, the group’s iconic vehicle, which came as a 72 piece set. This van varies a bit from the classic version, as it seems to be crafted to look like a GMC travel or work van. None-the-less, this Mystery Machine comes full of interactive features and accessories to help the team solve their cases. The most notable accessory is a battery-powered monitor that you use to place collectable ghost cards into. Each Playmobil Scooby-Doo toy comes with a ghost card which you insert into the monitor to reveal more about the character.

Three of the five Mystery Inc team members are included with this set, Daphne, Velma, and Fred leaving out Shaggy and Scooby. A number of character accessories are also included such as snacks, flash lights and other case solving tools. Overall this set is very well constructed and is a fun build with well documented instructions. Lastly, if you would like to purchase this set I would recommend going to either Walmart, Amazon or the Playmobil website itself for the lowest possible prices at this time. You can find it here

Scooby-DOO! Scooby & Shaggy with Ghost by Playmobil
Playmobil Shaggy & Scooby

To complete the Mystery Inc team with Shaggy and Scooby-Doo you need to purchase this add-on 22 piece set. In addition to getting Scooby and Shaggy you also receive a villain with a detachable glow in the dark ghost costume. You also receive a handful of character accessories which include more snacks, flashlights and tools. This set does require some assembly like applying decal stickers and piecing together accessories. Here is where you can purchase this set at the lowest price on Amazon

Scooby-DOO! Mystery Figure Bags by Playmobil
Playmobil Mystery Bags

The final new release from Playmobil is a set of 12 mystery bags, each one comes with a random villain and their scary costume. These villains have all been featured in the classic animated series. Additionally, each bag comes with a sticker and ghost card to use with the monitor from the Mystery Machine set we covered earlier. Finally, each character requires some assembly, about four steps worth. We purchased 6 bags and received the following villains, two of which were doubles:

  1. Snow Ghost x2 (double)
  2. Black Knight
  3. Carlotta x 2 (double)
  4. Space Kook

You can find these in-store at Walmart at the lowest price.

Scooby-DOO! Mystery Mansion
Scooby-Doo Mystery Mansion

The first play-set we opened was the Mystery Mansion which features a two-story, two-sided haunted house that comes with a Scooby-Doo figure. This set features six different interactions:

  1. Button triggered front doors
  2. Monster hands that reach up from the cellar
  3. Falling chandelier
  4. Side door the opens revealing a creepy clown
  5. A trap door upstairs that opens when you lean against a mirror
  6. An upstairs cannon that launches a spring-loaded projectile

This set required some assembly and was definitely a lot of fun for our story. If you would like to get this set you can find it here.

Scooby-Doo Toy Set

Fisher-Price Imaginext Scooby-Doo Haunted Ghost Town

Scooby-Doo Haunted Ghost TownThe second play-set we opened was the Haunted Ghost Town, which to us looked like an old mine. FIsher-Price is the manufacturer for this classic set and features its Imaginext character footholds that when turned activate different features on their sets. In addition to these footholds there are several buttons you can press which unlock other features. There is a ramp that an included rail car can ride down and tokens to go with it that can be launched from a handle onboard like a catapult. Additionally, you receive two characters with this set, another Scooby-Doo and the classic villain Miner Forty-Niner with a removable disguise. We used this set on our final scene of our story and revealed the treasure the villains were after. You can find this set on Amazon at the lowest price.

Fisher-Price Imaginext Scooby-Doo Hiding Scooby & Funland Robot
Scooby-Doo & Funland Robot

Our other Fisher-Price Scooby toy was a two-piece unit consisting of Scooby-Doo and a Funland Robot from the classic series. The Scooby in this set hides in a trash can and pops up and down with the press of a spring-loaded button. We didn’t end up getting this one into our story as intended but still enjoy using it with our other toys. Since this is also a part of Fisher-Price’s Imaginext series you can use it with the footholds on the Haunted Ghost Town. Check it out here

Scoob! 6″ Action Figures 2 Pack

Scoob! Action Figure Toys
For the Scoob! Movie, a new series of toys were created by a company called Basic Fun! and released exclusively to Walmart. These larger 6” posable action figures come in sets of two and feature some but not all of the characters from the movie. There are 4 sets of characters to collect:

  1. Shaggy and Dynomutt
  2. Classic Scooby-Doo and Captain Caveman
  3. Dick Dastardly and Super Scooby-Doo
  4. Blue Falcon and Muttley

Scoob! Movie Toys & Scooby-Doo Mashems

I am not sure why they did not include some of the other main characters from the movie like:

  • Velma
  • Daphne
  • Fred
  • Dee Dee Skyes

If they make a follow up movie I imagine these characters would also be created. There is no assembly required for these characters and just Captain Caveman came with an accessory, his wooden club. You can find these at Amazon using this link here

Scoob! Mystery Machine – Lights and Sounds!
Scoob! Mystery Machine Toy

For the Scoob! Movie a larger matching Mystery Machine was also released that holds the accompanying action figures. This van while not as interactive as the Playmobil set is half the price and is truer to the classic design of the Mystery Machine. This toy makes various sound effects and the headlights light up when you press the flower on the front. The rear doors also open allowing for more characters or cargo to ride along. This is also exclusively found at Walmart.

Scooby-Doo Mash’Ems Mystery Pack Series
Scooby-Doo Mashems

As a bonus for our story we purchased 3 squishy, stretchy Mashems (also made by Basic Fun!) that feature one random character of the Mystery Inc team as well as a chance to get an ultra-rare glow-in-dark figure (which is the Mystery Machine). We got these from Amazon here and didn’t get any doubles!

That covers all the Scooby-Doo toys we purchased, we had a great time assembling and playing with them in our story. Our kids enjoyed the Playmobil mystery blind bags the most as they enjoy taking them apart and reassembling them over and over again. We did use one non-related Scooby-Doo toy for the escape of Dick Dastardly and Muttley, a NASA rocket ship which can be found here if interested. Also if you have not yet seen the movie and would like to you can purchase it here:
